Not every day can be a good day, and they have to be reported the same as the good ones. I'm happy a did a decent job of getting 25 minutes worth of exercise, but I wish I had eaten better. In part it was the stress of a looming deadline at work, but mostly it's just a matter of breaking some bad habits. Basically I made three poor choices, where even two probably would have kept me from this reversal.
In other news, I checked off a few more items on the to-do list, making this feel ever more real. First off I purchased some microspikes and a couple performance t-shirts. While the winter season along the trail is short, it's also in some of the highest areas of the trail. Even in a mild winter there's still going to be some slick zones in North Carolina and Tennessee. Plus, I'll have plenty of chances to try them out in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin.
In addition, I also reserved two nights at the Amicalola lodge for March 23 and 24. Before we kick off our hike, we're going to celebrate Erin's birthday in style, including a ceremonial hike up the 600 stairs at the beginning of the approach trail. Hard as it is to believe, we're only about a week past two months until this whole things starts.
