From leisurely strolls in the local nature preserve, to treks along the Appalachian Trail, we love to take a walk in the woods. Enjoy our tales about the joys (and pains) of hiking. No longer active, but still keeping around because why not?

That's all the time left before our Appalachian Trail hike begins. In less than 336 hours we'll say our goodbyes at Amicalola Falls State Park and head out on our way up the Approach Trail to Springer Mountain. Yeah, it's hard to believe the time is almost here. However, having a tough time dealing with the lateness of the hour before we step off doesn't change the fact its coming.
I picked up some first aid and hygiene supplies today, which should about round things down for me in terms of my pack contents. I still have to order a new pair of shoes, which I plan to do sometime this evening. As far as actions directly related to hiking, I'm pretty much at a standstill until we take off for Georgia a week from this upcoming Monday.
That's actually a good thing, as I still have plenty to do to pack up my apartment and wrap things up at work. Before I know it the next nine days will be gone, and it will be time to go from Schaumburg to Ridge Farm, and Ridge Farm to Amicalola Falls State Park. I expect to be a collection of agonizingly slow minutes that only appear as fast as they went by in retrospect.
