After several weeks of trying to get back on track, I finally had a breakthrough of a week. By (mostly) keeping to my daily walking regimen and (mostly) keeping to my simple dinner plan, I was able to hit the elusive goal of not only breaking even, but actually losing weight. The fact that this came during another week of long nights at work and cold temperatures makes it that much sweeter.

As you can probably guess, I made my first hike of the season this past Saturday. However, it isn't part of this cycle, so it doesn't count in this post. I'll be sharing a separate post about the return to the trail, so be looking for it.

I'll be continuing my simple dinner plan for a while longer, as it seems to be working out. Now I just need to start hitting my exercise goals, which shouldn't be as hard now that we are (slowly) moving away from snowy and icy weather. The big reason I didn't hit it this week was due to Wednesday, which was a snowy day and cut off some of my exercise options.

Because I'll be taking off for a vacation on Friday (and thus won't be here to weigh in), there will be no post for week nine. Instead, it will be combined with week ten. The vacation means an opportunity for more hiking, but also presents a challenge of more opportunities to overindulge in food. We will just have to see how it goes.
